Running up hill

So I’m thinking “I have to get stronger!” The La jolla half marathon is considered a pretty difficult half because it has some hills. One in particular is somewhat daunting – almost a mile long with a vertical rise of 420′. Been looking for a comparable hill to train on – Ran the museum hill on Rte. 9 but it’s not nearly long enough or high enough. Monday I ran East Road. The distance is about right if you measure to the middle school but doesn’t climb enough – only 265′. I had trouble running it – had to walk for a little while as I neared the Willow Park Pavilion. Next one to try is Bank Street up to the monument.

Thinking how these hills could be compared to obstacles in our faith walk. Sometimes we just need to get stronger to get over the top. The solution is not to give up! We must train ourselves to overcome!
